Generalist Artist
Blowfish Studios is expanding and we're seeking talented Generalist Artist to join the team! You can look forward to working with an amazing team of talented professionals, gaining professional experience in game development, releasing games on multiple platforms and working on amazing projects!
The role requires flexibility to work across multiple games and work closely with the 3D department, our Art Director and fellow artists to give our games exactly the right look. In addition to knowledge of existing art packages, applicants must have clear communication skills, a solid work ethic and be able to thrive in a fun team environment.
Responsibilities
Create high-quality 2D and 3D concepts for characters, environments, vehicles and special effects.
Illustrate amazing high-resolution 2D images to inform the creation of in-game assets and for marketing purposes.
Design logo and symbol graphics in a wide variety of styles
Model, texture and light 3D assets
Set up scenes, cameras, textured surfaces, and particles in a real-time game engine
Research and understand various gaming art and products and understand their needs as they relate to game volatility and player experience
Assist in the creation of cinematic trailers for marketing purposes.
Requirements
3+ Years in a studio environment in film or video game production.
Experience and skills with 3D modelling, UVing, texturing and asset optimisation; to create amazing game-ready assets
Experience with creating assets for various screen resolutions and aspect ratios
A strong portfolio of previous work and completed projects
Adaptable and able to multitask and prioritise work based on changing schedules and feedback/critiques
Experience using AI is a plus
Experience using Figma and Miro is a plus
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Strong 2d illustration skills
Proficiency with Maya or Blender, Substance Suite and Photoshop
Must be flexible to take criticism and iterate until the final game asset is just right
Must be able to demonstrate solid and well-rounded art skills
Able to work on time-sensitive projects while following precise direction
Demonstrate high motivation and creative thinking as an innovative self-starter
Strong collaborative skills working with multiple departments (design, engineering, production, QA, publishing)
A passion for video games with a good knowledge of different game genres
Positive attitude, self-motivated, proactive, great with verbal communication, an open mindset when receiving feedback and able to pivot based on project priorities
